Allison Bennington is a Partner and member of Senior Management at ValueAct Capital (ValueAct), an investment fund based in San Francisco with approximately $14 billion in assets under management. Through its public and private pension fund, foundation, endowment, and sovereign wealth fund investors, ValueAct manages the assets of retirees and savers worldwide. In addition to working with her Partners on investment strategy and execution, Allison leads the firm’s Legal, Compliance, Government Relations, Media Relations, and Institutional Corporate Governance efforts. ValueAct invests in a concentrated portfolio of public companies – where it is usually one of the largest shareholders – and seeks to work actively with the executives and Boards of Directors to build sustainable, long-term financial and business growth. ValueAct Partners have served on the Boards of over 40 of its portfolio companies. Current portfolio companies where ValueAct is on the board include CBRE Group, Inc., Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc., and Rolls-Royce Holdings plc. Allison serves on the Board of Directors of Seitel, Inc., a ValueAct portfolio company. ValueAct is uniquely positioned at the nexus of investment management and corporate governance, and Allison is an expert in both fields. She is a member of the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee, and on its Market Structure Subcommittee. She is also on the Steering Committee of the Investor Stewardship Group (ISG), and participated in its founding and the launch of its “Framework for U.S. Stewardship and Governance”. Allison is a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Corporate Governance and Finance at NYU Law, and the Berkeley Center for Law, Business and Economics at the University of California Berkeley School of Law. She is a former member of the Advisory Board of the Program for Corporate Governance at Harvard Law School. Allison received her undergraduate degree from the University of California Berkeley and her J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.
